THE ANIMA COLLECTIVE:

BEAU FRENTHEWAY

EVERYONE LOVES BEAU:

We're incredibly grateful to have Beau Frentheway join the ANIMA Merx Collective. He's a great addition to this growing community and represents himself in an immensely positive way — one that we're proud of and all humans should be. When you meet Beau there are a few things that standout right way. His kindness and his hard work ethic. He's someone you walk away from meeting and say to a friend, "Yeah, he's a good one".

Raised and living in Heber City, Utah and surrounded by several brothers, Beau spends his time as the Head Mechanic at Park City Bike & Demo, working on a variety of self-made projects, and of course riding his bike as much as possible to get ready for the 2024 race season. Yeah, he's fast.

We interviewed Beau to dig into who he is as a person, and how he uses the bike, and other hobbies to feel comfortable in his own skin.

WHY IS SELF EXPRESSION IMPORTANT TO YOU?

Self expression is important to me because it can showcase who you really are and when I feel true freedom and peace if it’s riding a bike, scooter, dirt bike, welding, whatever I’m doing, I feel like my full self doing those things because it’s who I am and what I love.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ON AND OFF THE BIKE?

My artistic expression and creative mind defines me on the bike by going fast and trying to find new lines on trails that have been ridden thousands of times. Every time I look at a feature I’m thinking what different ways can I ride this feature? What line is faster? What line is more stylish? There’s just so many factors on a bike where you can express your emotions and style in your own unique way. For me sometimes it’s hard to put my thoughts into words..that’s where self expression comes in. I’d rather show it. If it’s with my projects I’m welding, or designing, my purpose is to make something different, better, or more thought out. When I finish a project or a bike that I’m tuning up, I feel like I’m expressing myself through that by putting all my knowledge, skill, ideas, and heart into everything I touch.

WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT JOINING ANIMA MERX AS A BRAND AMBASSADOR?

I am honored to join the ANIMA Team because I get to connect and ride with like minded people. They are there to support me if it’s on or off the bike. I feel like my values align with ANIMA because their message takes the pressure out of riding, leaving only good vibes. The STOKE is unreal when I’m hanging out with these guys riding bikes and just having a good time!

WHAT PROJECTS DO YOU HAVE LINED UP IN 2023?

I have a bunch of races planned that I'm traveling to.

  • Utah Gravity DH Sundance: June 1-2
  • NW Cup DH Sundance June 21-23
  • Utah Gravity DH Pomerelle Pounder: July 19-21
  • NW Cup DH Kellogg Idaho: August 2-4
  • Utah Gravity DH Finals, Brian Head: August 11-12
  • Monster Energy DH Big Bear Lake, CA: August 16-18

Some other things I have going on include a mini snowmobile engine swap, building a long travel 4 wheeler, repainting my Subaru, and a secret project you'll have to look out for.
